For the use of Universal Time instead of local times

The following is a page to discuss the pros and cons of using a single time reference for the events in different countries. On the afternoon of a particular date, many things happen around the world, but they are not simultaneous. Is this good or bad?

Your opinion will help us all.

Mainly advantages, I believe

... or better, for the general use of the Universal Time Coordinated standard (UTC). UTC has been used in aviation and weather for longer than four decades.
In this page, we invite your opinions pro and against the extended use of UTC for all standard uses of time: TV-programming, train and plane schedules, working hours, and the question on the street, if still ever posed: What time is it?

The Universal Time. What is it?
It is a common time reference for all humans. For simple applications, it counts time from 00:00 to 23:59 in the format hour:minute. No mention to morning and afternoon (a.m. or p.m.), since any hour, like 07:00 UTC is morning in Europe, but already afternoon (descending sun) in Japan, for instance.

Using UTC for normal life does not imply at all:
-changing working or feeding habits
-changing anything about our life style

However:
-it saves money
-it saves energy
-it facilitates travelling through time zones
-it avoids jet-lag problems for travellers

What is the price of a universal adoption of UTC as time reference for the whole world ?
For any citizen of the world, it is just the effort of getting used to other numbers to name the waking up time, the lunch time and the go-to-bed time. No change of habits, no going earlier or later to bed or to have lunch. Everything as usual, just other numbers, which will take at most one week to get acquainted with. The effort is minimal in comparison with that of a currency change, as was the case in Europe one decade ago when the euro was introduced.

Universal

I look forward to a relaxed discussion on pros and cons in using Universal Time as a standard in every day life, not just for aviation, weather, or finance. We have time.
